The NCC Board of Directors invites nominations for Directors to join its Board
Help advance cybersecurity in Canada. Join the National Cybersecurity Consortium Board of Directors and be part of our effort to lead world-class cybersecurity innovation, research, and talent development; and increase cybersecurity-related economic activity in Canada. Share your leadership and knowledge by working with dedicated Board Directors, members, and staff who are making great strides in moving digital security forward in Canada.
Nominations deadline: Friday, February 28, 2025
The NCC is seeking nominees with expertise in cybersecurity from industry, academia, or the not-for-profit sector. We encourage nominations from individuals across Canada, including the east or west coasts, the far north, and prairie provinces to maintain a well-rounded perspective of cybersecurity within a pan-Canadian context.
The NCC is also proud to meet the goals of the Government of Canada’s 50-30 Challenge, a program that aims for diverse representation within Canadian organizations. As the NCC builds its Board, it seeks to develop an inclusive governance and environment, and welcomes nominees from diverse backgrounds.
The NCC Board of Directors is currently composed of nine directors that includes experts and leaders from Canadian academic and private sector organizations, including the NCC’s five founding institutions. The NCC is expanding its Board by creating up to five additional seats.
The current term of a Board Director is three years. During this time, Directors’ responsibilities include:
- Review and confirm Vision, Mission and Values
- Set and oversee strategic direction
- Monitor organizational performance
- Oversee financial affairs
- Manage enterprise risk
- Set human resource and compensation policies of the NCC
- Develop Board governance policies and processes; and
- Manage Board dynamics
Board positions are volunteer-based, and Board of Director meetings are scheduled quarterly. Directors are expected to engage in any special meetings of the Board, including the Annual General Meeting. They are also encouraged to participate in NCC-led events such as the annual conference, and networking events.
The Call for Nominations begins Monday, January 13, 2025 and will run until Friday, February 28, 2025.
All submitted nominations will be reviewed for consideration by the NCC’s Governance & Nominations Committee.
To nominate an individual or to self-nominate, please provide the documents listed below, and send to nominations@ncc-cnc.ca by Friday, February 28, 2025. A confirmation will be sent verifying receipt and acceptance of the nomination.
Please provide the following documentation:
- Completed Nominations Form that includes:
- A short biography (2 paragraphs)
- A cover letter indicating the nominee’s interests in serving on the NCC Board of Directors, the expertise they will bring, and how these details will support the NCC in its mission and vision.
A recent photo may be requested if selected by the Governance & Nominations Committee.
Please note that all profiles will be circulated to the NCC Board of Directors. If selected, nominee profiles will be posted on the NCC website and shared with its Members.
Only those nominees to be interviewed by the NCC’s Governance & Nominations Committee will be contacted.
Selected nominees will be approved at a Meeting of Members; date to be announced.
